2023 (mainline series)

2023 is the seventeenth mainline series of Disney Pixar Cars die-cast vehicles by Mattel, named after its primary year of release. The earliest 2023 releases were found at retail stores in December 2022.[1]
The cardback motif is carried over from the 2023, with Cars on the Road characters featuring a uniquely themed design, and all other segments sharing a red-hued stadium background (or a desert, in select instances). While the first three box shipments exactly duplicated the 2022 design, non-On the Road models from the E assortment onwards received a slightly updated style, shifting the advisory logos around as well as "filling in" the entire blister card, instead of the previous clear design.
History
The line continued categorizing characters based on source material of origin; in addition to bringing back 2022's Cars, Cars 2, Cars 3, and Cars on the Road segments, 2023 added five models based on Cars Toons (all from Tokyo Mater) as well as a limited "Disney 100" collection, to tie in with the parent company's 100-year anniversary and wider merchandising series.

- Due to the deluxe line being cancelled, characters like Red, Ivy and Chieftess are now featured in 2-packs or multipacks.
- This is the first time that Misti Motorkrass, Johnny Blamer, J. Shoesteer, Patty, Dragon Lightning McQueen , Drift Party Mater, Ito-San, Finn McMissile, Patokaa, Tubbs Pacer, Vladimir Trunkov, Mark Wheelsen, and Miles Axlerod with Open Hood have been released from Thailand.
- Patty's name has finally been corrected after every previous release spelling her name as "Patti".
- Kabuto is not marked as Kabuto with Flames despite having flames.
- Tubbs Pacer's name has been shortened to just his first name for unknown reasons.
- Miles Axlerod with Open Hood is the second Chase car to be re-released, with the first one being Lee Racé.
