- He is named after, Cars on the Road animator, Doug Frankel.
- Doug's color is depicted as green in the episode, but his diecast depicts him as gray instead. This is because Doug and his fellow alien zombies were originally planned to be gray, but this was changed late in production, and Mattel was likely given early concept art.
