Jay W. is a yellow racing fan that first appeared in Cars, and later reappeared in Mater the Greater. He is a much flatter version of a 1993 Ford 4-150, with a license plate that reads "4RBJ8".
He is named after Cars art coordinator and character manager Jay Ward, referencing his in-depth knowledge and love of cars.
History
Cars
In Cars, Jay W. is seen attending the Motor Speedway of the South race next alongside several other racing fans, including Mia, Tia, and Christina Wheeland. Jay features a large yellow Piston Cup souvenir on his roof.
Mater the Greater
In Mater the Greater, Jay makes another appearance at the Motor Speedway of the South, watching Mater the Greater perform some of his stunts, including jumping over a variety of rusty cars, diving into a small kiddie pool, and jumping through a ring of fire.
