Sage VanDerSpin is a race car that formerly competed for the Gask-its team in the Piston Cup Racing Series.
History
Before Cars
Prior of Cars, Sage competed in the Junior Piston Cup Pro Series with the likes of Floyd Mulvihill. He went on to become the youngest winner of the Junior Piston Cup Pro Series eventually joining the Piston Cup in 2004.
Cars
In Cars, Sage is seen racing at the Motor Speedway of the South. Early into the race, Chick Hicks tries to get a bigger lead over Lightning McQueen by making a huge accident consisting of Sage and almost all of the other Piston Cup racers.
The World of Cars Online
In The World of Cars Online, Sage was one of the opposing competitors that could be found at the Backfire Canyon Speedway, along with Brush Curber and Ryan Shields.
Between Cars and Cars 3
Between the events of Cars and Cars 3, Sage most likely retires from racing and Rex Revler supersedes him as the Gask-its racer.

Physical description
Sage is a Brawny Motor Co. Spark GT that is painted red, yellow, and blue, with his sponsor and number outlined with white, and colored in with blue. On his hood, a Gask-its treat can be seen. His rim color is blue, and he has the number 80 on his roof, doors, and left headlight sticker painted in blue with a white outline. He has a split grille resembling a mustache. His spoiler is red, and his eye color is hazel brown.

Trivia
- In the 2020 diecast mainline, he is mistakenly called Rex Revler, which is actually the name of the veteran in Cars 3.
- This same mistake was also in an official video on the Pixar Cars YouTube channel called "Which Race Car Will Be the Champion?".
- There was an error on his original die cast, where he is a lighter shade of blue than he was in the film.
