- Youngest winner of the Junior Piston Cup Pro Series, VanDerSpin entered the Piston Cup Competition in 2004 already a highly decorated racer. His favorite trackside pastime is dodgeball. Several of his fellow racers play with him as well, but it's the Pitties who are the toughest competition on the dodgeball court, says VanDerSpin, because they're tiny and they have arms.

Trivia
- In the 2020 diecast mainline, he is mistakenly called Rex Revler, which is actually the name of the veteran in Cars 3.
- This same mistake was also in an official video on the Pixar Cars YouTube channel called "Which Race Car Will Be the Champion?".
- There was an error on his original die cast, where he is a lighter shade of blue than he was in the film.
