- "The only one who's strong enough to fix that road is Big Al!"
"Lizzie, Big Al left, like, fifteen years ago." - —Lizzie and Ramone, Cars
Big Al is a former resident of Radiator Springs. He left the town around fifteen years prior to Lightning McQueen's arrival in Radiator Springs. Others viewed him as tough, with Lizzie saying he was the strongest resident in Radiator Springs while he was there.
History
Cars
In Cars, when Lightning McQueen is sentenced to fix Main Street in Radiator Springs in an act of community service, Lizzie interjects, claiming that only Big Al would be capable of such a feat. Ramone reminds her that Big Al left about 15 years ago, and Lizzie, forgetting what she was talking about, asks, "Then why are you bringing him up, you lemon?"
Cars: The Video Game
Big Al also has a brief mention in the PSP version of Cars: The Video Game. When the player selects Lizzie on the character select screen, she may say, "Who is that? Big Al? Is that you?"
Radiator Springs comics
Big Al's only physical appearances is in the first volume of the Radiator Springs comic, in which he appears in during a flashback sequence to when he was still around. He is depicted as rather large and resembling a Volkswagen Transporter T2, with a purple livery and chrome hubcaps, mirrors and front bumper.
