The Delinquent Road Hazards[1], also known as the Tuner gang[2] or simply the import cars,[3] are a group consisting of four troublemakers named Snot Rod, Boost, DJ, and Wingo. The Delinquent Road Hazards have caused trouble in many different installments of the Cars series, and are often portrayed as antagonists. Their logo is a typical graffiti drawing done with spray paint.
History
Cars
In Cars, the tuners are causing havoc on the highway when they come across Mack, a tired hauler that is transporting Lightning McQueen to the Los Angeles International Speedway. DJ plays music to cause Mack to fall asleep, while Boost and Wingo push him back and forth. Meanwhile, a bobblehead falls onto the trigger that opens the trailer, causing the back door to open. Snot Rod sneezes, which scares Mack, causing McQueen to fall out of his trailer. During the credits, they are caught speeding through Radiator Springs and are impounded by Sheriff and sentenced to pull Bessie, possibly paving a new road.
Cars: The Videogame
In Cars: The Videogame, they are hired by Chick Hicks to steal gear out of Lightning's trailer. To do so, DJ drives in front of Mack and plays music to put him to sleep, while Snot Rod holds a ramp behind Mack, so that Boost can jump onto the roof to open the trailer. Finally, Wingo collects five boxes of McQueen's gear, while avoiding other objects that fall out of the trailer. After McQueen hears the news, he immediately races out to the highway, and steals the gear back from them. They are then arrested by Sheriff, where they confess to being hired by Chick.
Cars: Radiator Springs Adventures
In Cars: Radiator Springs Adventures, the minigame Speed Trap has the four delinquents speeding along the highway, trying to escape from Sheriff (controlled by the player), who is attempting to catch them for speeding.
The World of Cars Online
In The World of Cars Online, the four delinquents could often be found being chased around by Sheriff while the player is exploring the open world. In addition, they also appeared in practice races as opponents.
Cars 2: The Video Game
In Cars 2: The Video Game, all four appear as downloadable characters, and once downloaded, they join C.H.R.O.M.E. as spy agents.
Cars: Fast as Lightning
In Cars: Fast as Lightning, all four characters are playable, and participate in Mater and McQueen's racing extravaganza, and also have their own customizable tracks. Unlike their previous appearances, the four characters seem to act relatively nice to others, and often compliment them on their racing skills.
Cars: Lightning League
In Cars: Lightning League, DJ is the DRH to be an unlockable playable character.
