Catbus is a minor character seen in Tokyo Mater. He is a car-ified version of the character from the Studio Ghibli film My Neighbor Totoro (となりのトトロ).
History
In Tokyo Mater, Catbus is an orange with brown stripes Tokyo car, who is into drifting. He is mainly seen in the background and also appears towards the end when Mater is celebrating his victory.
Trivia
- The anime character Catbus from My Neighbor Totoro was referenced as a car in the Cars Toons short Tokyo Mater. In addition, the main character from My Neighbor Totoro also appears in Toy Story 3. When asked about this, John Lasseter said, "We do little homages in our films, and we thought it was a very appropriate homage to let [Miyazaki and his film company] Studio Ghibli know how much they mean to us."[1] Hayao Miyazaki and John Lasseter have been longtime friends, and Pixar has helped with the localization of several of his films.
