In 2007, after having a falling out with his stepmom Teresa Earnhardt, Dale Jr. left DEI and went to drive the #88 car for Rick Hendrix with the National Guard and Mountain Dew as his sponsors. He won at Michigan on Father's Day June 15, 2008, and then four years later, he won at Michigan.
