Mac iCar is a white Axxelo stock car who appears in Cars, as one of the thirty-six Piston Cup racers competing for the Dinoco 400 championship at the beginning of the film. He is sponsored by Apple, a fictional counterpart to the real-world company of the same name, founded in 1984—of which iCar's number also alludes to, this being the year their original Macintosh personal computer was first released.^{[citation needed]}

In Cars, Mac is one of the thirty-six race cars that competes in the final race of the Piston Cup season at the Motor Speedway of the South. When Chick Hicks causes the big crash, he was also one of the cars damaged in the wreck. He spends most of the race behind Dale Earnhardt Jr., in around the 13th position. At one point in the race, The King overtakes him, and Mac finishes the race in 15th position.

iCar also appears in the 2007 Car Finder interactive game; While early beta footage [1] showcased his name as Matthew Overtaker, this was later changed for the final release.

An Apple racer similar to Mac iCar is seen in Cars 3.

An Apple racer with a similar look appears in Cars 3. As some veterans return from the original Cars movie while others are superseded by other cars, it is unknown whether the racer in this film is Mac iCar. They have a similar eye color, but appear to differ in body shape.

Physical description

Mac is an Axxelo Fission (a model that resembles the real life Chevrolet Impala SS NASCAR) that is painted white, with the Apple logo on his hood, and the number "84" painted in grey on his doors and roof.

• iCar and Dave Alternators are the only Cars Piston Cup racers to share the same driver number, #84. In Cars 3, the number of Re-Volting racer was changed to 48 instead.
• In the DVD commentary for Cars, it is stated that iCar was the only racer not to be involved in the crash: However, he can be seen with visible crash damage (next to Kevin Shiftright) during the aftermath of the wreck.
• His die-cast is one of the rarest and most valuable diecasts to date, as only 1,000 units were produced, and it was available exclusively in a 36-car Motor Speedway of the South box set that was only available to those with a Red Line Club membership. The reason for its lack of a widespread release may have to do with the licensing fees associated with the Apple logo and its ability to be used on non-first-party products.
