Road Race 1
Players race as Lightning McQueen in a three-lap race around Tailfin Pass. The opponents are Mater, Doc Hudson, Ramone, Flo, Sarge, Fillmore and Sheriff on all consoles except the PlayStation 2, which only features Mater, Doc Hudson and Flo. There are three sparkplugs to collect which unlock some kit-parts. A gold trophy is awarded for first, silver for second, and bronze for third. Earning a trophy unlocks Santa Carburera as a place to explore and Road Race 2.
Road Race 2
The race is a five-lap race around Santa Carburera. Players play as Lightning McQueen and the opponents are Mater, Doc Student 1 and Chick Student 1 on the PlayStation 2, while other consoles also feature Fillmore, Sarge, Doc Students 2 and Chick Students 2. Finishing the race first earns the player a gold trophy, second for silver, and third for bronze.
Road Race 3
In this race, players are racing three laps around the south of Radiator Springs as Lightning McQueen against Mater, Doc Hudson, Ramone, Flo, Sarge, Fillmore and Sheriff. On the PlayStation 2, the opponents are just Mater, Doc Hudson, and Flo. Placing in the top three unlocks Motoropolis, which is where the next gold event, Street Race 1 is.

- The race track of Road Race 3 is similar to Boostin' with Fillmore in the original Cars game.
- Road Race 1 is the only gold event in Tailfin Pass.
- Road Race 2 is the only Road Race outside of Radiator Springs.
