Avalanche is a member of the Piston Peak Smokejumpers team, who cannot seem to be quiet. He once triggered an Avalanche due to his loud voice, which is how he got his name.

Meet the Planes
- Avalanche earned his name after triggering a massive slide, but the bulldozer—who coincidently lacks an "inside voice"—claims he was nowhere near that snow bank.

- Bear Grylls voiced Avalanche in the UK theatrical release of Planes: Fire and Rescue. of Oddly, Grylls' voice for Avalanche is only included in the theatrical version shown in the United Kingdom, as the film's home video released in the UK included the voice of Bryan Callen from the US dub instead.
