Hydro Wheels Nigel Gearsley on the original packaging design

Hydro Wheels is a toy line manufactured by Mattel, that featured several Pixar Cars characters, they were first released in 2013, but were discontinued in 2016 and replaced by the Splash Racers in 2017. Hydro Wheels items were in 1:55 scale, and were made of plastic. They could float, and were made to be played with in water. They could be pulled back to race on land or water. Some larger characters, such as Mack and Red, featured additional play features, such as the ability to shoot water.

Trivia

  • The Hydro Wheels line was the only 1:55 scale line released by Mattel to include items based of Colossus XXL and the Porto Corsa Boats
  • The WGP Lightning McQueen variant included with the World Grand Prix Splash 'N' Race Speedway uses an exclusive design. It has blue wheels, compared to the yellow wheels that the single used, and features a unique design that has Lightning's bolts explode into water at the ends instead of turning into flames
  • To The Rescue Mater is the only item in the line to not be in 1:55 scale, instead being in a much larger scale.
