Plot

Follow the retelling of Planes through the easy reading level and colorful illustrations. On the front cover of the book, it has the Planes logo as seen on top as well with the little golden book logo, the sky with some clouds, crops that are growing in the bottom, and Dusty Crophopper as seen in the middle.

Dusty Crophopper was a crop-dusting plane from a little town. But he had big dreams of flying fast! More than anything else, he wanted a chance to race in the Wings Around The Globe Rally!

Chug the fuel truck was Dusty Crophopper's best friend. He helped Dusty Crophopper train to be a racer. One day, Chug suggested, "Maybe you should get a flying coach." After all, fuel trucks did not know all about flying. But who did?

Dusty Crophopper asked Skipper Riley, a former combat flying ace, to be his coach. But Skipper said "NO!". When Dusty Crophopper went to the tryouts, he surprised everyone! The crop duster made it into the Wings Around The Globe Rally!

Skipper Riley agreed to train Dusty Crophopper as long as he was honest with him. The crop duster's secret came out, and Dusty Crophopper will say "I'm afraid of heights!". Skipper Riley asked Dusty Crophopper race against the shadows of High-Flying Planes passing overhead. Dusty Crophopper got faster, and faster, and FASTER! Soon, Dusty Crophopper was ready to race in the Wings Around The Globe Rally!

The first leg of the Wings Around The Globe Rally began in New York City. There Dusty Crophopper met Bulldog, the British racer, who was not interested in making friends. He thought friends got in the way of winning! Dusty saw Ripslinger, the green tornado, and El Chupacabra, the flashy Mexican racer.

In the first race, Dusty Crophopper was afraid to fly high with the other planes. Instead, he decided to fly below the clouds to an icy storm. In the second race, he rescued Bulldog! That made Dusty Crophopper a hero, but it also put Dusty Crophopper in last place.

Then, Dusty Crophopper removed his crop sprayer and started to think like a racer. As the planes raced across Europe and Asia, Dusty Crophopper began to win, and win, and win, AND WIN!

Ripslinger didn't want Dusty Crophopper to win the race. He sent his thugs Ned and Zed, and Ned started to break off Dusty Crophopper's antenna! Soon, Dusty Crophopper was lost and low on fuel. Two navy jets Bravo and Echo rescued him. Once they took him back to their aircraft carrier, the aircraft carrier was the Dwight D. Flysenhower.

When Dusty Crophopper started the race leading to Mexico, he flew into a terrible storm, and Dusty Crophopper was badly damaged. Now he didn't even want to finish the rally!

Bulldog and the other racers still believed in Dusty Crophopper. They each gave him a spare part to repair him. Now, Dusty Crophopper is able to finish the rally!

Ripslinger and his thugs tried to knock him out of the race once and for all, and then Skipper Riley saved him! He knew that he needs to fly higher than Ripslinger! So Dusty Crophopper started to fly Higher, Higher, and HIGHER!

Dusty Crophopper won the race! The courageous crop duster did it with some help from his friends, including a new life long friend, The Skipper!
