The Disney Store Diecast Line is a toy line that the Disney Store launched in 2006, and has been releasing several characters from the Cars movies, in the form of 1:43 scale diecast.

Overview

The Disney Store Diecast Line was launched in 2006, a few months before Cars hit the theaters. There were 12 diecast releases, as well as pullbacks and light-up vehicles, and a few playsets.

The diecasts were sold in a red blister card up until 2009 when the acrylic case packaging style was introuduced. They featured a different nametag and background for every character.

When Cars 2 was released in 2011, over 20 new models hit the market and since then there has been a line extension to release a good number of characters.

In May 2013, the Disney Store began selling Planes merchandising.

Five Piston Cup racers were added to the line, a couple of which had not been released by the Disney Store's rival line, the 1:55 Scale Diecast, so they were the most popular among all of the models.

The cardback was also updated, since more models were released. Pinstripe McQueen was the only one not featured on the cardback, and the Fabulous Hudson Hornet was, though he wasn't released until a year afterward.

2009

No new models were featured that year, but Dinoco McQueen made his first appearance as a single.

Trivia

  • Miguel Camino is the only race car not to be released as a single.
  • A 22-pack was released, including a mix of Cars and Cars 2 characters called "World of Racing". In Europe, it is only a 20-pack due to Brent and Darrell not being included.
  • Lee Revkins has been found as an acrylic box single, but clues led it to be faked. However, after contacting Disney, it was found that some stores got a reset and that Lee was real, and ia now an extremely rare factory error.
  • Skipper's wings are changeable from flat-top mode to flight mode.
  • Franz's wings are changeable from driving mode or flight mode.
