From November 7–21, 2023, Rocket League is running a Cars-themed in-game event, where players can take control of Lightning McQueen (pictured) and attain a variety of collectibles, including two extra paint jobs, a new player banner, "Ka-chow!" goal explosion, and "Life is a Highway" player anthem.
As of late October 2023, the first assortments of mainline 2024 die-cast cars from Mattel are beginning to appear in stores.
The Cars on the Road episode "Road Rumblers" was nominated for the Outstanding Achievement for Animated Effects in an Animated Television/Broadcast Production category in the 50th Annie Awards, held on February 25, 2023.
A large volume of concept artwork and production details for the canceled spin-off film Metro surfaced online in November 2022. In addition to high-quality storyboards and design concepts, American animator Steve Loter revealed that he would have directed the film along with artist Sunil Hall.
