However, when Jackson Storm begins sparking interest in the "next-generation" of race cars, Buck either retires or gets fired after the season ends and is replaced with a next-generation rookie the next season. At the Los Angeles 500, Buck is one of very few stock cars who weren't replaced by next-generation rookies. Others include Lightning McQueen, Brian Spark, and the Rev-N-Go Racer.
