Cam Spinner is a Next-Generation race car that competes in the Piston Cup Racing Series with the number 31 for the Triple Dent team. He replaced Terry Kargas in 2016.

History

Cars 3

Cam Spinner swerving, leading to the Florida International Super Speedway crash in 2017.

In Cars 3, Cam competes in the 2016 season of the Piston Cup. He joined the Triple Dent racing team serving as a permanent replacement for the previous racer, Terry Kargas. He debuts at the Heartland Motor Speedway, finishing in 18th.

Later, Cam competes in the 2017 season at the Florida 500 race at the Florida International Super Speedway, where he started from the twenty-third position and then moves up into the fifteenth position. During the race, Spinner causes a crash by pushing himself too hard trying to get faster and pass other racers, blowing his rear tire in a process, just like how Lightning McQueen blew out his rear tire during the final Los Angeles 500 race at the Los Angeles International Speedway because he pushed himself too hard trying to get faster to pass Jackson Storm. He spun out of control and took out Tim Treadless and George New-Win. They slid across the track and hit other cars. Spinner soon slides towards the wall, hitting Steve "Slick" LaPage in the process. After that, he went airborne and hit Harvey Rodcap when he got back on the ground. He was severely damaged and does not finish the race. Due to the accident a restart for the race had to be called.

  • Japanese: カム・スピナー
  • Polish: Gwiazda Kopeć
  • Russian:
    • Кэм Спиннер (transcription: Kem Spinner)

Trivia

  • Cam Spinner's name is similar to that of Cad Spinner from Planes: Fire & Rescue.
    • Translation of his name, Gwiazda Kopeć, used in Polish version of Cars 3: Driven to Win, (and on his Rocket Racing diecast release), was also based on the Polish translation of Cad Spinner's name, Gazda Kopeć.
      • Based on this it is inevitable for the two to have some relations to eachother.
  • Early concept art of Cam depicts him with the number 21 instead of 31.
    • The same goes for Terry Kargas.
      • This can only conclude that Ryan "Inside" Laney would have been sponsored by Triple Dent, due to his number being taken from real life driver, Ryan Blaney.
      • In the movie, he has gray eyes, however on his artwork, his eyes are green.
