Realizing their superiority in terms of ability, Piston Cup teams start firing their veterans in favor of Next-Generation rookies, and Speedy becomes one of the six veteran racers to get fired and instantly replaced by a Next-Generation racer, along with [[Phil Tankson]], [[Carl Clutchen]], [[T.G. Castlenut]], [[Parker Brakeston]], and [[Dud Throttleman]]. [[Blinkr]] replaced Speedy with [[Ryan Laney]].

Storm's success sparks interest in the Next-Generation racers, who are faster and more capable than traditional stock racers. Realizing their superiority in terms of ability, Piston Cup teams start firing their veterans in favor of Next-Generation rookies. Because of this, Speedy was forced to stop competing in the Piston Cup and got replaced with Ryan "Inside" Laney.
