He is a old professional race driver, who, in the 1950s, competed in the [[Piston Cup Racing Series]] with the number 17, where he is sponsored by [[Southern Gold Gasoline]]. He competed in the race at the [[Thomasville Speedway]], during which the [[Doc Hudson|Hudson Hornet]] had jumped over [[Leroy Heming]].
