Pixar Cars Wiki:Warning policy

Warnings are a disciplinary measure that may be issued to a user, as a result of frequent or egregiously poor conduct. They are intended to inform the user of a repeated or severe policy violation, and caution that if those same actions continue, it will eventually result in a block.

A warning is delivered to the user's message wall, by an administrator. There are two different types of warnings, that together with reminders, comprise a loose, three-part system:

  • Reminders
  • Warnings
  • Final warning

Generally speaking, the more warnings a user receives, the greater they risk suffering a block for a future offense. As warnings functionally track a user's disciplinary history, they are not be removed from one's message wall; doing so will result in another warning. However, if a user wishes to remove a warning after some time has passed, they may file an appeal.

Procedure

Warnings are not issued lightly - whenever possible, the Pixar Cars Wiki channels its core philosophy that mistakes are best viewed as learning opportunities, rather than grounds for scolding or exile.

This is why the first "tier" of the warning system are not actually warnings at all - called reminders, these are friendly messages designed to inform the user of best practices, and offer any relevant advice or resources that may be of use to them. Unlike its subsequent tiers, users of any rank are allowed to issue reminders.

While a reminder by itself results in no harm, no foul, this may change if a user is consistently receiving reminders for the same reasons, and/or ignoring them. If deemed excessive or disruptive enough, an administrator may choose to issue a formal warning; from this point onward, if the relevant issue continues, the user may be issued a final warning, and if still afterwards, a block.

Except in severe cases, administrators are advised not to issue each stage of warning unless the user has received at least one from the previous tier. However, this does not mean they will always follow this framework: A user may receive multiple warnings before a final warning, for example. This often occurs if a user is repeatedly breaking multiple policies, rather than the same ones.
