Our wiki makes use of the Echo extension, which provides an in-wiki notification system. For the most part, these are pretty self-explanatory; In your preferences, you can toggle which types of notifications you want to receive (with the exception of talk pages), if any.
On desktop, clicking either icon brings up the respective Alerts or Notice list; clicking "See all notifications" in either tab will show you a combined list of all types. Mobile users may only access the latter, by clicking either icon.
