Special Paint Schemes
- Mac iCar's iTunes Paint Scheme (2006 Detroit 400 at Michigan) - After Steve Jobs saw the immense popularity of the iPod and iTunes, he decided to take it to another level. The iCar agreed to run a special paint scheme at the 2006 Detroit 400, and it went over quite well with the fans! But that's another story...
- To be continued
1948 Piston Cup Season
The Piston Cup began in 1948 and so far, Slide Powers is the only known racer along with Jay Roper, Ricardo Albany, Sammy Strikebreaker, and Daniel Parkson, meaning he won the 1948 Piston Cup. Nothing much except that. There were 20 racers in the season.
1949 Piston Cup Season
The 2nd edition of the Piston Cup in 1949 was also boring and nothing much from the season happens as AGAIN Slide, Daniel, Sammy, Ricardo, and Jay are the only known racers.
1950 Piston Cup Season
The 1950 Piston Cup was quite interesting. Why? Multiple racers like Rusty Dipstick, Randy Lawson, Kurt Shiftright, Samuel Conrev, among others make their debut. Slide Powers still races in this season. In that season, Thomasville was opened and so is Fireball Beach. Samuel Conrev won the season with Kurt Shiftright quite close in second place. Also 23 racers were there due to Daniel Spinout's debut along with others.
1951 Piston Cup Season
The 1951 Piston Cup was a really well known season. Four hotshot rookies make 24 racers compete. The 4 racers that debut are Doc Hudson, Junior "Midnight" Moon, Louise "Barnstormer" Nash and River Scott. The 27 cars compete and compete but hotshot rookie Doc Hudson takes the win. Louise "Barnstormer" Nash wins 3 races in a row in this season as well, while Doc Hudson wins 13 races.
1952 Piston Cup Season
The 1952 Piston Cup was a very interesting and well known one, because Doc Hudson won TWICE IN A ROW AND BROKE A RECORD OF MOST WINS IN A SINGLE SEASON!!! He won 27 races out of 36. The only races he did not win were only 9 meaning he won the Florida 500 as well. Nothing much about Louise "Barnstormer" Nash, Junior "Midnight" Moon and River Scott.
1953 Piston Cup Season
The iconic 1953 Piston Cup Season WAS iconic. But WHY? A very historic moment happened on the final lap of the Thomasville race when Doc Hudson was competing against rookie sensation LeRoy Heming. LeRoy slammed Doc into the wall, but Doc touched the wall, flipped on top of LeRoy and won the race as the pitty (old flag waver of the fifties) waves the checkered flag. Doc won THREE PISTON CUPS IN A ROW meaning he is considered one of the best legends in Piston Cup history.
1954 Piston Cup Season
After three Piston Cups in a row won by Doc Hudson, he would have won his fourth but one thing happened that stopped his career, and it happened at Fireball Beach proving that Rusty Dipstick, Randy Lawson, Morris Axler and Samuel Conrev raced in 1954. The commentator says "The #6 and #12 cars are still fighting for the lead!" until Doc Hudson passes the background racers and Samuel Conrev. He drifts and takes the lead. Doc would have won his fourth race as it was the 35th race, but all of a sudden, he sort of slips, ejects on the ground as if he was crashing and did crash and rolls over an incredible number of times. It got so bad that the pitty had to wave the red flag to warn the other racers. The ambulances also came because it was so bad. Doc was on the ground and the commentator says "Hopefully this race today wasn't his last.", but it WAS his last race and was out for the season. Doc only won 16 races and Kurt Shiftright won the Piston Cup. However, Kurt wasn't finishing that well starting in 1959.
1955 Piston Cup Season
Nothing interesting for this season, except Doc Hudson crashed the previous year and was out for the season. Doc won 3 cups, but Strip Weathers would break the record in the 1990's. Because of that, LeRoy Heming won the 1955 edition of the Piston Cup Championship. PLUS! Louise "Barnstormer" Nash retired in the season.
1956 Piston Cup Season
A rookie sensation Chevy Bel Air named Buck Braker debuts and competes against enemy LeRoy Heming. Junior "Midnight" Moon and River Scott are not near the Piston Cup title due to a technological disadvantage due to the fact Braker and Heming are more advanced cars with faster speeds and most likely younger. Slim Hood also looks different with the number 42. LeRoy and Buck won almost every race in 1956 except only 7, but at the season ending Dinoco 400, Buck Braker won the race and the Piston Cup.
1957 Piston Cup Season
The 1957 Piston Cup Season is Round 2 of LeRoy Heming VS Buck Braker. Slim Hood makes his final season. Buck won the 1957 Dinoco 400 and the 1957 Piston Cup Championship. Slim then got fired and replaced by someone. Figure out who in the 1958 Season!
1958 Piston Cup Season
The 1958 Piston Cup Season was the 10th edition of the Piston Cup. It was well known because... LeRoy Heming had to compete YET AGAIN with Buck Braker? NO! A rookie is coming and that is none other than the guy who replaced Slim Hood! It's... LEE WEATHERS! LeRoy, Buck and Lee were racing in 36 different races. But at the end... ROOKIE LEE WEATHERS WINS THE PISTON CUP!!!!
1959 Piston Cup Season
The 1959 Piston Cup Season was well known by several fans, because Lee Weathers won the Piston Cup again! Lee won the inaugural California 500 at Los Angeles International Speedway. LeRoy Heming was quite close to winning placing 2nd in the final standings and Buck Braker is 3rd. River Scott and Junior Moon race real hard BUT Kurt Shiftright couldn't race. Fans don't know where he was, but will he be found? Figure it out on later Piston Cup seasons!
1960 Piston Cup Season
The 1960 Piston Cup Season was well known by most fans as they thought LeRoy Heming and Buck Braker both failed to win and Lee Weathers, father of Strip and great uncle of Cal, wins the Piston Cup. WRONG! Rookie racer Mario Andretti wins with a record of races won almost as Doc Hudson's in 1952! Mario won 21 races against LeRoy, Buck and Lee. Now there are 36 racers still with 36 races, but the tracks are bigger and there is a new Piston Cup race named the Talladega 500 at Alabama Speedway. But seriously... WHERE IS SHIFTRIGHT!?!?!?!? Kurt is not racing in the Piston Cup, AGAIN! He finished in 8th in this season.
1961 Piston Cup Season
You remember River Scott and Junior Moon? One of them is going to be important in this season. But still, WHERE IS KURT SHIFTRIGHT? Who's going to win the Piston Cup? LeRoy Heming? Buck Braker? Mario Andretti? Lee Weathers? ALL FOUR ARE SO WRONG!!! And no, it isn't even Kurt Shiftright either! Besides, HE'S STILL MISSING AND IS NOT IN THE SERIES SINCE 1959!!!! Kurt was in 7th this time. But in the mean time, the winner is actually JUNIOR MIDNIGHT MOON FOR SOME REASON!!!!!! The others, nope. LeRoy Heming also had a terrible crash at Georgia Super Speedway in which he flipped over and caught fire in the crash and that is why Re-Volting (LeRoy's sponsor) was important.
1962 Piston Cup Season
In this season, LeRoy Heming recovered from his terrible Georgia Super Speedway crash and is back! And he will race all season. But in this season at the Data Shift 400, Buck Braker crashes and goes into the catchfence. On the other hand, Lee Weathers did very well this season and so does Mario Andretti. The three main racers compete for the top spot. But seriously, WHERE IS KURT SHIFTRIGHT!?!?!?!? He hasn't been in the series since 1959! But other than that, LeRoy Heming won the Piston Cup for the second time (his first was in 1955).
1963 Piston Cup Season
A three way tie between LeRoy Heming, Buck Braker (recovering from his crash in 1962), and Lee Weathers. At LA, LeRoy won the race and the Piston Cup. Kurt Shiftright is also missing and not in this season, and is possibly retiring. Will he? Figure it out in 1964!
1964 Piston Cup Season
Kurt Shiftright FINALLY found after 5 years! Sadly, though, he will retire in a couple of years. His son Kraig then debuted that year for Spare Mint #12 in place of Maxwell Turner. River Scott did pretty well that year, but Buck Braker was too unworthy this season. But what happened to LeRoy Heming though? Mario Andretti almost won the Cup as he gets beaten by Lee Weathers! Lee won his third Piston Cup in 1964.
