Cars
In Cars, Mac is one of the thirty-six race cars that competes in the final race of the Piston Cup season at the Motor Speedway of the South. When Chick Hicks causes the big crash, he is (and the only one) not involved in the wreck. He spends most of the race behind Dale Earnhardt, Jr., in around the 13th position. At one point in the race, The King laps him, and Mac finishes the race in 15th position.
Between Cars and Cars 3
Mac retired during the events between Cars and Cars 3 and was replaced by an unnamed racer. The Apple veteran racer eventually got fired and was replaced by the next generation Apple racer.

Cars
- Bios
- "Mac iCar likes things clean and simple. He doesn't go for the flashy colors, and gaudy stickers that adorn some of his fellow racers. He prefers a simple sleek design, and feels this creates a bold statement, one that says, "I think different.""[1]

Trivia
- Mac's racing number, 84, is a reference to the year 1984, when the Macintosh personal computer was first released, along with a commercial based on 1984, a book by George Orwell.
- "84" is also Dave Alternators' racing number, by mistake, However, this was corrected as his number supposedly 48 in Cars 3.
- In early versions of the Car Finder game, he was named "Matthew Overtaker".
- Mac's diecast is one of the rarest and most valuable diecasts to date, as only 1,000 units were produced, and it was available exclusively in a 36-car Motor Speedway of the South box set that was only available to those with a Red Line Club membership.
- According to the production film commentary for Cars, Mac was the only racer to not be involved in the crash.
- However, that's most likely an error. Since he was seen after the wreck crashed with Ryan Shields.
