Red's name in Swedish
At present, this is given as "Rödis" — which cannot be right, as to my knowledge umlauts (diareses) are only used in English to indicate that the two vowels in a pair are pronounced separately; e.g. "coördinate" to indicate that this word is "co-ordinate", not "coor-dinate".
Unfortunately, all the several online translators I tried fail to translate this name, although one on which I tried the reverse translation translated "Red" as "Röda", so I suspect that "Rödis" in Swedish also means "Red". The difference could be accounted for by a difference in usage case, such as formal vs. intimate; e.g. a few dialects of English still have the intimate "thee" or "thou" as well as the formal "you" (German still has this distinction, as du/dich). — evilquoll (talk) 16:52, October 7, 2019 (UTC)
