American Car is the second pitch for Cars. It would serve as the basis for the final product released in 2006, with a lot of similarities and differences.

Plot

Similar to the beginning of Cars, the story started out with a racer, "Racer 57", that was fast on track, eventually later on Racer 57 would finish in a tie for the race. Afterwards, Racer 57 and his hauler would travel to California to make it to the tiebreaker race, but before that his hauler decided to stop by the Top Down Truckstop to wash off. This prompts Racer 57 to leave his hauler, only to be left behind. Racer 57 tries to chase down his hauler only to end up in Radiator Springs after a crash.

Mr. Windshield, a resident of Radiator Springs, proceeds to ask the race car if he wants to do community service or take part in the town's grand prix. The racer states that he will do community service which only leads to nightmare of doing so. After waking up the race car agrees to take part in the Radiator Springs Grand Prix.
