Welcome to the hub for proposals. This section of the wiki allows users to share their ideas for potential changes to the wiki and look for consensus in approving them. The goal of this feature is to promote collaboration as a community and ensure that all Pixar Cars Wiki users have a say in important wiki decisions.

Process

  1. If you have an idea you would like to suggest, you may create a proposal by adding a topic under the "Active proposals" heading. Proposals can cover any articles and spaces. As the proposer, you must provide both an explanation of what your proposal consists of as well as a compelling argument to justify why it should be passed.
  2. Once a Proposal has been created, the voting period begins. Users have one week to declare whether they Support or Oppose the given proposal. This can be done by signing your username under either the "Support" or "Oppose" sections respectively, accompanied by an explanation of why you feel the way you do. All users can debate and discuss with one another in the "Discussion" heading.
  3. In certain cases, the Support or Oppose dichotomy may not do a discussion justice. Sometimes there are more options. In these sorts of situations, you can offer your opinion in multiple sections, so long as your selections do not contradict one another.
  4. After the week-long period ends, the final result is determined by which section had the most names signed. If the majority of users chose to Support the proposal, it indicates consensus, and the change may now be implemented. If more users chose to Oppose, the changes will not be put into effect.
  5. In the event of a tie, the voting period will be extended an additional week.
  6. Once completed, the result of the proposal will be logged at the bottom of this article, and an archive of its voting process will be catalogued here.

Rules

  1. Proposals must provide a detailed explanation of the intended change, as well as a mock-up or draft of what the change would look like in effect.
  2. You must choose to Support or Oppose, not both. In discussions with many options, you can sometimes pick more than one option, but make sure your answers are not contradictory.
  3. Just like a talk page, all comments must be left with a signature. This is done by typing four tildes (~~~~).
  4. While you are free to explain yourself however they like, you may not edit any comments that are not your own. The only situation in which a comment should be edited or removed is by an administrator in the event that the comment violates any of the site rules.
  5. All comments in the "Discuss" section must stay on topic.
  6. While there are no limits or requirements for the lengths of comments, explanations should be as clear and concise as possible. Do not reply with sarcasm or "jokes" that do not reflect your true thoughts.
  7. Proposals are all about discussing changes to the wiki. They are not a way to rally for community projects. For instance, an idea like "Upload screenshots for Cars: Radiator Springs Adventures" is not a valid proposal. These sorts of discussions are better had in the Forum.
  8. Please be respectful. It is perfectly fine, even encouraged, to debate, but arguments should be kept formal and not personal. Remember: Don't be a jerk.

Active proposals

McQueen infobox

Updated terms: Should we add Lightning McQueen's "Radiator Springs" look to the infobox on his page, under the tabber "Cars Toons"?

Original: I am proposing that we add other main paintjobs to Lightning McQueen's infobox (eg rookie, rrc, cars 3, wgp) My reasoning is that they are main paintjobs and since they had a fair amount of screen time I believe they should be added to the infobox. Paintjobs and looks that have minimal screen time (eg Hudson Hornet Piston Cup, Fab ulous Lightning McQueen, any otr) Thank you for reading and I hope I did this right.

Support

  • User:RodRedlineM1/sig -- Pasting from Discussions section: "One could argue his Radiator Springs style should be there, as it had similar screentime to Fabulous McQueen in the first film, but was also his lead color in the Mater-National game and a lot of other media from that era."
  • ChickenChaff (talk) -- Also pasting: "If that's what we're changing it to lol, then, I think, yes, it should be added to the infobox."
  • ABG1304 (talk) -- In agreement to add McQueen's Radiator Springs style to his infobox.

Discussion

Hiya! Want to clarify before I cast a vote - are you suggesting incorporating those paint jobs you listed as having minimal screen time, such as the Hudson Cup and Fabulous McQueen? From what I can tell the earlier set of examples you listed (rookie, WGP, Cars 3) are already there via tabber. If that's what you mean, I'm a bit conflicted - both are secondary to his main look from each film, and might overload the selection just a bit; It also might create a problem of, how do we decide which are significant enough compared to another? For example, one could argue his Radiator Springs style should be there, as it had similar screentime to Fabulous McQueen in the first film, but was also his lead color in the Mater-National game and a lot of other media from that era. Extend that to something like the Cars Toons shorts and we've got a LOT of entries! Haha. I do think the "Paint Jobs" section of his page could benefit from being extended, in case that's another option. ~~User:RodRedlineM1/sig 00:50, 10 September 2023 (UTC)

I agree with Rod, think you should clarify what you're saying with which paintjobs should be there. I think some of your words got cut off when you wrote it so... ~~ChickenChaff (talk) 11:04, 12 September 2023 (UTC)
I think at the very least we could include McQueen's "Radiator Springs" paintjob in the infobox. It was heavily featured in Cars Toons until Time Travel Mater and was his main paint scheme for Cars: Mater-National Championship and Cars: Race-O-Rama. Any other paintjob should just be regulated to the gallery, especially since most are either brief, minor, or were not used in other material that much. ~~ABG1304 (talk) 1:43, 13 September (UTC)
Heh, oops. I messed up and didn't realize this proposal was submitted several months ago, and was never properly completed. The proposed changes were made a long time ago and have never been opposed. However, since this discussion still brought up a new point, I say we vote instead on the sub-point ABG and I brought up: Whether or not McQueen's Radiator Springs look should be added to his infobox tabber, under the name of "Cars Toons". What do we think? ~~User:RodRedlineM1/sig 21:25, 14 September 2023 (UTC)
If that's what we're changing it to lol, then, I think, yes, it should be added to the infobox. ~~ChickenChaff (talk) 9:31, 14 September 2023 (UTC)
