He was a professional racing driver, who, in the 1950s, competed in the Piston Cup Racing Series with the number 7, where he was sponsored by Po'Tater's Garage & Gas and Southern Special. In 1954, he competed in the race at the Fireball Beach Course, during which the Hudson Hornet had experienced a career-ending crash.
