He was a professional racer, who, in the 1950s, competed in the Piston Cup Racing Series with the number 42, where he was sponsored by Cheerio Old Toots and Atomic Belsons Safety Horns. In 1954, he competed in the race at the Fireball Beach Course, during which the Hudson Hornet had experienced a career-ending crash.
