Roadwork!

Template:Book Roadwork! is a Step into Reading story written by Melissa Lagonegro and illustrated by Art Mawhinney. It was originally published as a paperback book on April 8, 2008.

Plot

Set after the events of Cars, new cars are coming to Radiator Springs to meet Lightning McQueen. In preparation, McQueen and his friends each prepare their shops and services for visitors:

• McQueen paves the road with Bessie
• Ramone readies his paints
• Sarge gets the SUVs into shape at his boot camp
• Fillmore makes new fuel
• Luigi and Guido test new tires for sale
• Flo runs her diner
• Red waters the flowers
• Sally furnishes her motel
• Mater leads Frank in harvesting the grain
• Sheriff puts up new road signs
• Doc prepares his clinic
• Lizzie stocks new bumper stickers
• Kori broadcasts McQueen's news
• Al Oft flies over as a lookout for visitors

After the work is done, the townsfolk celebrate by playing on Main Street.
