Help:Namespaces

Namespaces refer to each different type, or perhaps "class" of page that exists on the wiki. Each has unique properties and quirks that define its identity, and how it interacts with others.

The namespace of a given page is easily identifiable by the prefix in the title (with the principal exception of the mainspace, which has none). For an explanation and example of each, here is a helpful key:

Talk	Discussion pages that correspond to each mainspace article, where users may discuss edits and proposals concerning the relevant page	Talk:Mater
User	Each user has their own personal userpage - see Pixar Cars Wiki:Userspace for details and policies. A userpage can also serve as the base for additional sub-pages.	User:RodRedlineM1
User talk	See Talk, but for userpages - Every user also has one of these, which can be used for free and open discussion with any other user. Our wiki currently uses the Message Wall format, so any User talk link will lead there.	User talk:RodRedlineM1

MediaWiki	System pages that control the functions and appearance of the site itself. Only administrators can edit them, but any user may offer or discuss suggestions on the corresponding talk page.	MediaWiki:Common.css
